GOOGLE GLASS IS DOOMED TO FAIL!!!! (No...Not Really.)
"GOOGLE GLASS IS DOOMED!" So many "tech pundits" and tech websites are now repeating this mantra...but is it true? Naw, I don't think so. Since this is what's getting hits these days and Lord knows my poor blog needs hits, so I'm penning some thoughts on the issue.
Recently, Robert Scoble voiced his opinion that, if Glass were to stay in it's current state and Google released it in 2014 as some are predicting, then the device was "doomed". Honestly, I guess I can sort-of agree with that. As I see it, we've only scratched the surface with Google Glass and wearable technology in general. I, myself, am a Glass Explorer and have been in the ranks since July 24th of 2013. After 5 plus months of wearing this wonderful device, I have to say that the potential for this technology is amazing! In just the short life span of this wearable, we've seen several amazing applications taking shape in the medical field. In addition, we see several automotive companies developing hands-free "glassware" for Google Glass and other wearable technology. These are just two areas that reveal to me that Google Glass is far from doomed.
The biggest factor that tells me that Google Glass is NOT doomed is the fact that Google is smart. They know what the issues are. They know that Glass isn't quite ready yet. They also know that they have to find that right pricing point to set for Glass. And more than anything, they know innovation. So put away your umbrella, Chicken Little. The sky isn't falling on Google Glass just yet. In fact, I think that the future for this device has only just begun.

Gumbo YaYa!
Gumbo YaYa - an auto awesome video compiled from Google Glass footage and photos that I captured while my wife and I made gumbo in the kitchen. Auto awesome for video is a great new feature of Google+ that was released recently. It takes video and photos that you take with your Android device or Google Glass, and does an automatic mash-up including music. And it works quite well!

UPDATE XE11 RELEASED TODAY
The Glass team released the next update for Glass, XE11, today. It introduces several new features such as:
Get Directions to Home and Work - label "home" and "work" locations in Google Maps and Glass will automatically recognize these by those labels. Just say "Ok Glass, Get directions to Home", and it will give navigation directions from your current location.
Personalized Calendar Search - If you use Google Calendar as your daily planner, you can now check your schedule by voice command through Glass. Say something similar to "Ok Glass, Google" and once the search card comes up say "What's on my agenda today?", and Glass will return your items scheduled on your calendar. Note: Calendar search works for Google Calendar users with Gmail and private search enabled .
Additional features of the update included a new Glass introduction for new Glass Explorers, a shortcut to the MyGlass screen casting feature directly from your Android notification drawer, and they also removed the "long press" activation of Google search in Glass.

There was an immediate kinship among Explorers and we had an awesome time together! Here are photos with links to the Google+ profiles for each of these wonderful Google Glass Explorers, so be sure to add them to your circles!

Google Glass Adventures - National September 11 Memorial
Google Glass Adventures are slideshows created with photos and videos created exclusively using Google Glass. This is the fourth in the series and all photos and videos were taken using Google Glass as we visited September 11th Memorial in NYC.
It was a very reflective visit as I viewed the site of this tragic event. As you look around, you almost try to "feel" the moment, the events, the thoughts of the people, as many would lose their lives on that fateful day. I paused for a moment of silence as I paid my respects, both to the victims and to those brave first responders who entered into harms way.
“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.” -President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001
